Originally posted on May 4, 2007. The gates of Hell are modeled after Rodin’s and inscribed with Dante’s original Italian. Seen briefly in the background is Abaddon, the angel who guards Hell. The chasing of a blank banner is meant to symbolize the futility of their activity and the fact they chose no side. Likewise they face a lesser punishment but have no hope of anything else. Just like in Dariel’s visions of Hell while in high school, I used the same design for the damned souls.
